Workshop Schedule
Having children is only
the first step toward becoming a successful parent. The range
of predictable—and unpredictable—changes that children
go through in life make parenting the most complex and rewarding
jobs we will ever have. In order to develop the necessary effectiveness
and competency required for this all-important job, parents
need a broad base of knowledge and skills. Building the Body
of a Parent is an 8-month seminar series designed to provide
parents with the tools needed to navigate and enjoy the complexities
of family life. Discussions will focus on building strategies
for taking more effective action with children. Specific topics
will include:
-
identifying the values
that matter to you, then taking effective action based on
those values
-
learning to be in
the moment with your children: how to be open, present and
connected to those who matter to you
-
saying what you mean
and meaning what you say: building skills to make declarations,
assessments and requests that produce desired action
