| "Dear Mike and Lee,
Thank you so much for helping James to learn to navigate the waters
of MCAS mania. It is clear that our collaboration has been
extremely beneficial to James, as manifest in his stronger sense of
self-worth and confidence. Our society needs more people like you to
help kind and creative adolescents stay afloat while being swept
through extreme academic expectations and unprecedented social
pressures. We feel so fortunate to have been with your since the day
James was born. Indeed, you have helped in countless ways with both
James, and then Lizzy.
With sincere appreciation, respect and fondness,
Lisa and Dennis" |
“We truly believe that our first nine years of parenting would not have been as successful or as enjoyable without the McKenzies and Family Rhythms. The parenting tools we have learned from them, as well as the encouragement and support they have given us, are an integral part of who we are as a family.”

“The techniques I learned in Building the Body of a Parent have helped me to be a more methodical, and ultimately more effective parent. Instead of unhealthy knee jerk responses to stressful situations, I reflect back on what I learned in class to help me manage the moment.
The difference can be noticed in the outcomes. When I use the techniques, my own stress as well as the children’s stress is minimized. When I find myself in emotionally weak moments and using old and convenient habits, the situation often becomes exacerbated.
I would recommend this course to anyone who finds the parenting role emotionally challenging.”

“Family Rhythms 'Building the Body of the Parent' group provided us with so many tools, resources and support in helping with the day to day challenges of being parents of a pre-teen and now a teenager. Learning how to create and use minimum specs has completely changed the dynamics of our family. Staying centered has not only been invaluable for the family but has incredible results at work, with friends and in virtually any situation. Everyone should have to write a biography. It is incredible to see how much of our pasts we bring along in all we do. One year after we wrote it, we are still referring to it. The past four years have been invaluable. There really is a better way and this is it!”

“We have thoroughly enjoyed the courses, and the sense of respect and caring we receive from everyone helps us to share in a safe and encouraging environment. Initially my husband was hesitant to join, but has become a huge enthusiastic participant. It has been very uplifting for us, to be with parents who place the same level of importance on parenting, and we are blessed to have such skilled and gifted mentors in Mike and Lee Mckenzie.”

Comments Regarding Workshop: “Managing Energy, Mood, and Emotion for Teenage Boys”
“After Tim attended your class, he was better able to control his emotions and outbursts. He has the ability to take the time to think of his actions before reacting. Tim has always had difficulty letting go of his anger, but he is now able to apply the techniques learned in this class. Even now after a year, he is still applying the skills he learned in your class. Thank you !!! You made a difference in our lives by teaching not only Tim these skills, but he can now pass this on to Matt as well.”
J. B., Worcester, MA, mother of 13-year-old Tim [top]
