Family Rhythms…Genesis
We established Family Rhythms
to provide the expertise to help nourish the emotional lives
of parents and children through education and effective engagement
with one another.
Families are the unique starting
place where all of us learn how to relate to others in a caring
and compassionate way. They provide the foundation for lessons
about cooperation and conflict, about love and disappointment,
about building responsibility and extending into the world.
For children, the experience of family life plays a key role
in the development of self-esteem.
Sometimes, family life can
be difficult. For those times, Family Rhythms is here to help
parents and children fine-tune their patterns of relating to
one another, which results in new possibilities for love and
commitment.
Lee
and Michael McKenzie…A True Team
As a pediatrician (Michael) and pediatric nurse practitioner
and developmental psychologist (Lee), we've worked in the healthcare
industry for more than 25 years. Throughout our careers, we've
held many consultant positions and have given numerous lectures
and seminars in child development and family life throughout
the country.
Our work with children has
always included an emphasis on the integration of physiologic,
psycho-social, and developmental aspects of functioning. In
addition to our extensive background in medicine, nursing, and
child development, we have had additional training in somatics
— the integration of mind, body, emotion, and spirit.
This combination of knowledge and skills allows for a unique
perspective in working with children and parents.
On a more personal side, we've
been married since 1983 and share the pleasure of parenting
three children. We can relate to what you go through because
we're parents, too!
