Building the Body of a Parent – Longitudinal Parenting Course

“The techniques I learned in Building the Body of a Parent have helped me to be a more methodical and, ultimately, more effective parent. Instead of unhealthy knee-jerk responses to stressful situations, I reflect back on what I learned in class to help me manage the moment… I would recommend this course to anyone who finds the parenting role emotionally challenging.”
Katy McDonough, Natick, MA, mother of three children
Building the Body of a Parent, parenting class 2003-2004

You can go to the gym or hire a personal trainer to develop more physical endurance, tone, and strength. But where do you go to build your parenting “muscle” and endurance? We have the answer for you.

Whether your children are toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged, preteens, or adolescents, Building the Body of a Parent is the perfect forum for gaining the necessary skills to manage the ups and downs of parenting. Let us help you increase your competence, effectiveness, and joy of parenting.

All of us have questions that befuddle us. In Building the Body of a Parent, you and other parents meet once a month to explore a wide variety of topics. The overall goal is to provide you with strategies for taking different actions on behalf of your family. Many of the parents in our classes have told us that the knowledge they gained resulted in significant changes in their parenting behaviors — changes that ultimately produced more cohesive and rewarding interactions with their children. You too can learn to be more effective as a parent.

Examples of some topics are:
• how to turn “judgments” into meaningful assessments that produce desired outcomes
• how to stay "centered" when children push our buttons
• how to create a family “identity” based on core values
• how to manage the challenges of parenting of children of all ages

Make the Commitment to be a Better Parent
Over the years, many couples have elected to take this course together and have found a new sense of togetherness in parenting. Single parents have benefited by gaining a renewed strength to go it alone and a stronger commitment to themselves and their children.

You, too, will see results from engaging with other parents in this dynamic course. Building the Body of a Parent takes time, but the results last for a lifetime of parenting. Create the legacy you want to leave as a parent. It starts with every interaction with your children, every day.
The price of Building the Body of a Parent is $1000 per family (same price for a single parent or a couple).
